Two volumes; large, thick octavos; contemporary half black calf over cloth, gilt-lettered spines in six compartments; xii,1308,216; [2],1287,[1],284pp.; engraved frontispieces, twelve colored plates at head of Vol. I, hundreds of woodcut illus. throughout text. Leather a bit dried and scuffed at extremities together with some brief peeling, spine labels cracked and starting to flake, preliminaries foxed, 20th century gift inscription to Vol. I front flyleaf, else a Very Good, internally clean and sound set.
