Illustrated with 12.5 inch fold-out depicting the Battle of Aklow, June 9, 1798. MISSING SECOND PLATE of the Battle of Tara. Quarter calf over mottled brown paper boards. Gilt title on black panel and gilt bars to brown rebacked cloth spine. Publisher's blue speckle to edges. Light rubbing to extremities. Corners are showing. Previous owners' names to front pastedown, top of title page, and top margin of page 7. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Light age-toning to pages. Part One of this work consists primarily of first-hand accounts, written from a Loyalists viewpoint, of engagements and events in different parts of the country, but most relate to Leinster, particularly Counties Wexford and Kildare. The second part is comprised of eye-witness acounts of letters written regarding the uprising in Ulster, although Leinster is mentioned here, too. There is a substantial section on the French in Connacht.
Previous owner's bookplate and pastedown signature is that of Henry B. Swanzy of County Monaghan (1841 - 1906), the Rector of Castlemagner and Ballyclogh.
