London: Chiswick Press, 1878 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. [x], 37p + 29 plates, frontis and vignette to tp. Large paper copy. Subscriber's edition. Tipped in at front 2 als from author. Loosely inserted notice of subscription payable, notice to subscribers March 25 1876, original prospectus Sep 1875, amended prospectus and envelope for one of the als. Page edges uncut, spotting to page edges. Tp spotted with light foxing. Foxing also to many of the interleaving pages, this has then occasionally transferred to text, only very occasional spotting on plates. Original cloth with gilt lettering and only light wear. Pages measure approximately 37.5 x 27.5 cm. Jaggard p234 states that only 75 small paper copies and 25 large paper published. Cutting from old bookseller's catalogue inserted stating 40 large paper copies. Original subscriber was F.C. Brooke of Ufford Place, Suffolk, his brief ink collation note to ffep..
