Containing miscellaneous numbers from various London weekly publications from 1873 to 1886. The Illustrated London News was the world's first illustrated weekly news magazine, founded by Herbert Ingram in 1842. It appeared weekly until 1971, and slowly ceased publication in 2003. The present large volume contains the following, in binding order:No. 2073 Vol. LXXIV, Saturday March 8, 1879;No. 2075 Vol. LXXIV, Saturday, March 22, 1879;No. 2074 Vol. LXXIV Saturday, March 15, 1879;No. 2089 Vol. LXXIV Saturday, June 28, 1879; Special Number of the Illustrated London News, July 16 1879;No. 2099, Vol. LXXV, Saturday September 6, 1879;Supplement to the number from October 4, 1879;No. 2105 Vol. LXXV, Saturday, October 18, 1879;No. 2296 Vol. LXXXII, Saturday, April 21, 1883;No. 2297 Vol LXXXII, Saturday, April 28, 1883;Illustrated with lovely engravings in text throughout, as well as seven full page plates, including a large folding plate illustrative of the 'Zulu War, and one double coloured plate.'The Graphic' was a British weekly illustrated newspaper, first published on 4 December 1869 by William Luson Thomas's company Illustrated Newspapers Ltd. Illustrated in text.Bound with 'The Penny: Illustrated Paper and Illustrated Times' No. 951 Vol. 37, Oct 18, 1879. This was a cheap illustrated London weekly newspaper that ran from 1861 to 1913. Illustrated in text. Rebound in smart full morocco binding with gilt plate 'Il London News 179' to front board. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, lightly bumped to head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Occasional light minor spotting affecting odd leaf, pages otherwise generally very clean throughout. 'The Graphic' with close cuts to margins affecting only part of text. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
