About This Item
Moscow: Self-Published, 1982. Assumed First Edition . Side-Stapled Wraps. Very Good Plus. 11" x 15.25. Another unique Vustin composition, this one scored for baritone (with microphone - speaking, sprechstimme, and singing) plus three percussionists. It is in three movements: I - Marciale, L'Istesso tempo, L'Istesso tempo (marciale); II - Tempo di valser; III - Leggiero. [NOTE; Kozma Prutkov is a fictional author invented by Aleksey Konstantinovich Tolstoy and his cousins, three Zhemchuzhnikov brothers, Alexei, Vladimir and Alexander, during the later part of Nicholas I of Russia's authoritarian reign. The four distinguished satirical poets used this pseudonym as a collective pen name to publish aphorisms, fables, epigrams, satiric, humorous and nonsense verses in the 1850s and 1860s, most notably in the literary magazine "Sovremennik" (The Contemporary).] The score consists of an instrumentation/notation key plus 31 pages. CONDITION: a solid uncreased copy with light shelf-wear and a touch of sunning-discoloration, unmarked but for a small inked catalogue number on the back cover, with tape-reinforcement at the top of the spine. This rare score is now in a clear, protective polypropylene bag with archival backing board. NOTE: multiple score orders, depending on weight, may qualify for a generous shipping charge reduction.
