About This Item
London: Longmans, Green & Co, 1954. Some creasing and tears to the edges of unclipped dustwrapper, more so to the lower edge, minor bumping to spine ends and corners of blue boards, school prize label (class prize for Latin, 1958) on f/ep, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover novel by the author of "The Bridge at San Luis Rey". Originally published in 1948, this is a later printing, part of the "Uniform Edition", from 1954. The story, told through various fictional letters and other documents, deals with the last years of the Roman Republic up to the assasination of Julius Caesar in 44BC. 198pp.. Hard Cover. Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
