About This Item

Chicago / London: University Of Chicago Press, 1984. Reprint. paperback. Very Good . 6x0x9. Paperback. Reprint. In what has become a classic work, Richard M. Weaver unsparingly diagnoses the ills of our age and offers a realistic remedy. He asserts that the world is intelligible, and that man is free. The catastrophes of our age are the product not of necessity but of unintelligent choice. A cure, he submits, is possible. It lies in the right use of man's reason, in the renewed acceptance of an absolute reality, and in the recognition that ideas—like actions—have consequences. vii 189pp.

CONDITION: Mild shelf wear. Previous owner mark on front flyleaf. Pages are crisp and clean. Binding and text block are sound. Full refund if not satisfied.

Synopsis

Ideas Have Consequences is a philosophical work by Richard M. Weaver, published in 1948. The book is largely a treatise on the deleterious effects that the doctrine of nominalism has had on Western Civilization since it gained prominence in the High Middle Ages, followed by a prescription of a course of action through which Weaver believes the West might be rescued from its decline.
