Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company/Riverside Press, 1911 Red cloth; gilt decoration and "The Park Street Library" title on cover; gilt spine lettering. Apparent first edition of this travel guide of the period, part of a series although no specific reference to such. Frontispiece black-and-white photograph reproduction of Michelangelo's David is the only illustration. Light-to-moderate rubbing to cover extremities. Spine sunned; moderate loss and darkening of gilt lettering.Thin black mark about 3/4 inch on rear cover. Few minute pinholes (insect damage) to front gutter. Prior owner attractive bookplate affixed to inside front cover. Prior owner inscription, date at upper front endpaper. Otherwise clean, tight, and unworn.
