About This Item

Natural history Monographs . 1st. Ed. Pub. Sellerio. 2011. Four volume set with 505 colour plates of illus. 4to. Bilingual in English and Italian. Nr. fine to fine hardbacks in nr. fine to fine dws, in good slipcase which shows some wear. In-print at £400.00. The Italian naturalist Francesco Minà Palumbo (1814-1899) conducted many studies in Madonie, a mountainous area in the middle of the northern Sicilian coast and made drawings of everything he saw. The ability to illustrate any kind of object or living creature allowed Francesco Minà Palumbo to create a large body of valuable scientific drawings. He wrote nothing on the subject, but his drawings are an important source of useful information. All plates in this edition are accompanied by descriptions, information on distribution, blooming times, etc.
