About This Item
London: The Book Collector/Queen Anne Press,, 2017. Signed limited editions, each volume number 16 of variously 60 or 125 copies, and each signed by James and Fergus Fleming, both nephews of Ian Fleming; this one of 22 uniformly-numbered sets for which solander boxes were produced by the Ludlow Bookbinders. To celebrate its 65th anniversary, The Book Collector magazine devoted its Spring 2017 issue to Ian Fleming, who had launched the publication in 1952. Essays were provided by former editors, family, and colleagues of Fleming, as well as scholars and historians. These volumes, each an article which appeared in the Spring issue, were here separately printed on 150gsm Bockingford paper and bound in black flock-paper covers with a letterpress title label; the box, lined in scarlet suede, is blocked in gilt using "Fry's Ornamented" type as was used on first edition copies of Casino Royale. A very handsome production. Ten volumes, octavo. Original black paper wrappers with printed paper labels to front covers, housed in the original solander box by Ludlow Bookbinders. A fine set.
