About This Item

Bar Herbor, Maine: Acadia Pub Co.. G large size softcover (some underlining). (1997). Gen. Eaton was a real military hero and in some ways larger than life. The impetus for the writing of this book arose . from the title search for my Caribou, Maine property which is on a portion of the original Eaton Land Grant. In 1896 Gen. Eaton was given a large tract of land in the Province of Maine before it became a state while it was still claimed by Massachusetts. The grant was for his service to his country in the Barbary War. I made a brief journey to view the ten tousand acres after I saw an old movie of Errol Flynn and Dorothy Lamore that told the Barbary story and was hooked. His birthplace was in Woodstock, CT. Here are the results of the author's exploration into Gen. Eaton information he found. .
