About This Item

Boston, MA: Lee and Shepard, 1897. Reprint (1894) . Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Edge and corner wear; no dj; corners are bumped and rubbed; scuffed and scratched; some shelf wear; front and rear hinges are cracked; former owner's name (Vernon E. Lux) and address are written in pencil on the inner front cover; missing the title and publisher's page; front and rear boards have a couple of light stains; overall still a nice readable used copy! Tan cloth with gilt lettering on the front board and spine. 373 very clean unmarked and uncreased informative and thought-provoking pages! "It is a saying as old as the hills that 'a little learning is a dangerous thing.' While as a physician I am ready to admit the truth of this, I think that there is infinitely more danger to the common weal from the populace being densely ignorant of the phenomena which are daily occurring in their midst. Hypnotism is at the present time exciting widespread interest, from scientific men, professional men, and laymen as well......" ----- from the Preface.
