The five indexes identifies hymns published in the 78 hymnals analyzed; associates each with its suthor (source), and with the various readings or segments of the hymn; locates the printed texts within these books which were used through the end of 1965; identifies melodies used as hymn tunes published in the 78 hymnals; associates each tune with its composer or source; locates the scores of these melodies within these books; forms a first-line and author index to the poetry of these hymnals, and a corresponding tune name, melodic, and composer index to the scores within the hymnals. 1185 pgs.
