One of 400 copies, folio size, 96 pp., with original dust wrapper and prospectus. This bibliography comprises ninety-nine titles published by The Book Club of California, from 1912 to 1958 with the bibliography itself being "the hundredth book"; with detailed descriptions of the content and physical appearance of each book, this reference serves as both a catalogue for the avid book collector and a document of the prestigious work put out by the Club. The bibliography goes beyond mere cataloguing, and includes some history of the printing and the content of each book, and is itself printed and bound in a lovely fine press book by the inimitable Grabhorn Press.
This volume also includes the original dust wrapper issued by the Club, as well as the prospectus announcing the book.
___DESCRIPTION: Quarter tan cloth with decorative paper boards, white paper spine label with gilt lettering, fore- and bottom edges rough cut, title page in red and black, types printed in red and black throughout, colour facsimiles of previously published works throughout; Van Dijck monotype, machine-made paper, folio size (14.5" by 10.25"), pagination: [i-iv] v-xxiii [xxiv-xxviii] 1-77 [78], one of 400 copies, unnumbered. Loosely laid in is the prospectus, printed in red and black, one sheet folded once. In a plain cream paper dust wrapper.
___CONDITION: A fine copy; the covers clean, the corners straight and unrubbed, the binding tight with solid hinges, the interior clean and bright, and free of prior owner markings; clean, crisp, as new. The dust wrapper is near fine, unclipped, clean overall with some very slight soiling, and minor edge wear to the bottom edge. The prospectus is near fine also, clean overall, with the original fold from mailing, some minor edgewear and a bit of toning on the final (blank) page.
