About This Item

New York: Greenwich House, 1983. Hardcover. Illustrations by Percy J. Billinghurst. Small 4to. Burgundy paper over boards, pictorial dust jacket. v, 202pp. Numerous full-page illustrations. Near fine/very good. Jacket spine lightly sunned; light remainder stamp on bottom page edges. First of this modern reprint edition, being a facsimile of an unidentified early printing of the noted 17th century translation. Tight and handsome. Interestingly, though not so noted, this copy came from the collection of noted Midwest children's book etcher and author Art Geisert, who used it in researching the edition of Aesop's fables he illustrated -- Barbara Bader's 1991 "Aesop & Company" (Houghton Mifflin).
