Based on the 1978 novel by Graham Greene, with screenplay written by Tom Stoppard.
A low-level bureaucrat in the British Secret Service M16 (Nicol Williamson) finds himself unknowingly used by the Soviets as he struggles with his love for his family and the ambiguity of his ethical responsibilities.
The final film directed by director Otto Preminger.
Set and shot on location in UK and Kenya.
