This volume contains over 500 spectacular images of the American West. The informative text is complemented with personal images of Huffman and his friends. Many of the photographer's printed and published collectibles and memorabilia featured in this book are reproduced for the first time. The book is divided into six chapters; Chapter One: The Life and Legacy of L.A. Huffman [1854-1931]; Chapter Two: Yellowstone National Park, Landscapes, Hunting, and the Custer Battlefield; Chapter Three: Indian Portraits and other Indian Views; Chapter Four: Miles City, Portraits, Camps and Ranches; Chapter Five: The Life of the Working Cowboy, including cowboys, bronc busting, roundup scenes, and branding, roping and cutting; and Chapter Six: The Herd Scenes, including buffalo, sheep, cattle, and horses. "The lesson of Huffman's work is that photography used with intelligence, enthusiasm, knowledge, and passion, can help us to enlarge and enrich our understanding of and are affection for the 'West That Has Passed."
