About This Item

New York: Virtue and Yorston, 1866. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo (464 pages, 306 wood engravings, steel engraved frontispiece). A glorious leatherbound First Edition of this beautiful work, all edges gilt, with a stunning fore-edge painting entitled “Daybreak on the Hudson,” exquisitely rendered and still quite vivid. There is some edgewear at the spine and discreet former-owner names and dates in ink on the front free endpapers, else fine.
