[HUBERT DE GIVENCHY; FASHION ILLUSTRATION/STAT; HAUTE COUTURE] HUBERT DE GIVENCHY (1927-2018), 3 stamped black-and-white fashion stats/copies of original fashion designs 8-1/2" x 11" with fabric swatches (4 total since two are numbered 19 with different pattern for the same basic dress with fabric swatch stapled to one of these), each of the fashion stats also has handwritten notes on fabrics and prices stapled to them by a Givenchy employee named Jackie to the noted philanthropist Mrs. Albert D. Lasker (see Provenance below), samplings from the notes, "Grey woolen coat, white stripes…Price: 19.800 F[rancs], Detaxed 14, 226 F.[presumably for purchase in France without export customs]…Black velvet and organge [sic, for orange?] dress…153A the same dress but in plane [sic] blue…57.500F…without the embroidery…48.000 F."…plus there is a copy of an August 6, 1982, handwritten letter from Jackie to "Dear Mrs. Lasker" reading in part, "Thank you for your cable…I did my very best to send you the sketches as quick as possible…As you can see, not so many light colours…Lookiing forward to seeing you when you come over in September…P. S. I sent you rather many short evening dresses, but they can be made in long."…in light purple in the upper left corner of each stat is an original "Givenchy" stamp with a Paris address in a border and on the back of each also in light purple is the stamp "reproduction interdite" [reproduction forbidden]; PROVENANCE: Mary Lasker of the Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation (medical research mostly, NYC headquarters), the notes with the designs and the letter are to Mrs. Mary Lasker, who not only wore fashions made for her by the leading French fashion designers, but held fashion shows throughout the U. S. for charities and philanthropies ///// CONDITION: varying quality/density of the reproductions of the fashions stats, all items well preserved with occasional creases to fabric swatches and incidental creasing from handling to sheets.
