New York: W. W. Norton & Company, 1977. Stated first edition, first printing, 1980. With personal inscription signed by Sarton on the half-title. Green cloth with dustjacket. Very good condition with good hinges, firm text block, some foxing to outer edges of text block, clean pages with no other names or markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped [8.95] and is in very good condition with no chips or tears. From the collection of a History professor who became friends with Sarton when they first met at Depauw University in the mid 1950s.. Inscribed by the Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
