287 pages with frontispiece. Octavo (8 1/4" x 5 1/2") bound in original publisher's green cloth with green lettering to spine and faux green signature to cover in original pictorial jacket. Draft letter which was sent to Sarton with her typed letter reply signed about the book. First edition. In 1973, May Sarton moved to a house on the seacoast of Maine. It was a place that was alone in all but a few months in the summer, with the sea and the woods, and a wide sky ever present. She discovered that what she has to give does not depend on others. This is her journal of that time. Condition: Letter, envelop and return letter laid-in. Six page "Celebration of Woman Writers" by Leonora Blouin on May Sarton laid-n else a near fine copy in like jacket.
