About This Item
New York: Jacobsen Publishing Company, 1932. 8vo, pp. 221, last chapter secured in stiff paper sleeve. Original black boards, lettered in green to front panel and spine. Printed dust jacket. A fine copy in a near fine dust jacket with just a little wear to spine ends. First edition of this NBC radio tie-in, in which the fifteenth and final chapter is wrapped in a sealed paper sleeve. Synopses of the first fourteen chapters were broadcast by the network, and people were invited to submit their own final chapter before the complete book was published. 'A committee of three nationally known men' (dust jacket blurb) chose the best submissions, and cash prizes were awarded. Chann Patrick's only book -- suggesting the gimmick was less than successful -- and an excellent copy, with the final chapter's sleeve, rather sadly, still unopened. HUBIN, p. 319
