This is President Carter's story of his Depression-era boyhood on the family farm in Plains, GA, before the civil rights movement that changed it and the country. Carter tells stories of his family, friends (black and white), and relatives and how they lived in the segregationist South. This book evokes a time when the cycles of life were predictable and simple and the rules were heartbreaking and complex. A clean very presentable copy.
