London: Michael Joseph, 1958. [Naval fiction] FIRST EDITION, first impression. Octavo (21 x 14cm), pp.283 [1]. Publisher's blue cloth with gilt titles to spine. With the dust-jacket illustrated by Val Biro. Light toning to edges, and some offsetting to endpapers, otherwise a crisp, clean copy. Price-clipped jacket shows a little toning to spine, and some light wear to joints and edges. Near fine. The ninth book in the ever-popular naval saga chronicling the life and career of seafaring adventurer Horatio Hornblower.
Synopsis
Hornblower in the West Indies, or alternately Admiral Hornblower in the West Indies is one of the novels in the series CS Forester wrote about fictional Royal Navy officer Horatio Hornblower. All the other novels in the series take place during the 1793–1815 wars with revolutionary and Napoleonic France. This one takes place when Britain is at peace, May 1821 - October 1823. Hornblower has been promoted Rear-Admiral and has been named in command of the West Indies station, i.e.
