Lewis' Hornblowers series, Hornblower in the West Indies. A first edition, first impression copy of Hornblower in the West Indies, one of C. S. Forester's series following the adventures of Horatio Hornblower, a fictional Royal Navy officer during the Napoleonic Wars. The Hornblower series consists of twelve novels, of which one unfinished, and five short stories published between 1937 and 1967. Hornblower in the West Indies (1958) is the last novel in the series and the ninth published. C. S. Forester was born in Cairo in 1899, lived in the UK and died in California, USA in 1966 (aged 66). He was an English novelist known for his writings on naval warfare.With the unclipped dust wrapper. In the publisher's original navy blue cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally, in excellent condition with minor shelfwear only. Dustwrapper is very smart, with only minor shelfwear. Spine is slightly sunned and the occasional faint spot internal to wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Minor faint spotting to rear pastedown and edges, affecting only the occasional page to the gutter. Slight off setting to free endpapers. With unclipped dustwrapper. Synopsis

Hornblower in the West Indies, or alternately Admiral Hornblower in the West Indies is one of the novels in the series CS Forester wrote about fictional Royal Navy officer Horatio Hornblower. All the other novels in the series take place during the 1793–1815 wars with revolutionary and Napoleonic France. This one takes place when Britain is at peace, May 1821 - October 1823. Hornblower has been promoted Rear-Admiral and has been named in command of the West Indies station, i.e.
