About This Item

London: Michael Joseph, 1967. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good/Near Fine. 8vo., 175pp. Sharp First Edition of the last Hornblower story, remaining unfinished after Forester's death in April, 1966. Square, tight and clean throughout with little wear save some gently pushed-in spine ends. Very attractive unclipped dust-jacket, (25s. net), has some rubbing to edges and tips. Creasing to front panel edges. Still fresh and bright with no chipping or tears. A pretty collectable copy at a great price.

Synopsis

Hornblower and the Crisis is a 1967 historical novel by C. S. Forester. It forms part of the Horatio Hornblower series, and as a result of C.S. Forester's death in 1966, it was left unfinished. There is a one-page summary of the last several chapters of the book found on the final page, taken from notes left behind from the author. It was the eleventh and last book of the series to be published, but it is fourth in chronological sequence.
