Philadelphia: Sol Mednick and Arthur Williams, 1946. Very Good. [104] p.: 19 full-page and 5 half-page illustrations; 36 cm. Loose signatures housed in card portfolio with black cover title. This is an unnumbered copy out of a limited edition of 100 copies, set in Airport Black Type by Typographic Service; the plates were printed by the Beck Engraving Co. Surrealist painter and printmaker Dmitri Petrov (1919-1986) was born in Philadelphia and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. The poems by English poet Thomas Hood (1799-1845) illustrated here by Petrov are: The Dream of Eugene Aram -- The Last Man -- The Song of the Shirt -- The Key: A Moorish Romance -- The Stag-Eyed Lady: A Moorish Tale -- The Bridge of Sighs. In Very Good Condition: portfolio is separating along spine and lacking some paper over spine and at edges, with small archival repair; internally clean and crisp.
