New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1904. Gaboriau was a pioneer of detective fiction, quite popular until his characters were eclipsed by the masterful Sherlock Holmes. Translated from the original French "L'honneur du nom." First published in English in 1900; this is a Very Good copy of a reprinted edition. Hubin, p. 160. Red cloth binding, ruled, with a stamped logo on the front cover; titling on the spine in gilt. Clean text; 585 pages. Frontis illustration and three others by Bayard Jones. Bumped, rubbed at the head of the spine. Spine has faded (but gilt remains bright) and has a small spot. A solid copy, and an enjoyable read today.. Reprint Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Bayard Jones. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
