Longmans, Green & Co. London. 1900 New Impression. Maroon buckram with nice gilt. design on front cover and spine. In good condition. Spine a little faded, small nick head of spine. Edges of covers slightly bumped. Owner’s bookplate on front endpaper. Browning to endpapers. A clean and tight copy. 301pp. 53 photo.ills, from photographs by the author. As in her first book, Jekyll writes in intimate detail of her labors of love in her own garden. She includes thoughts about her own home and its decoration, and gives many tips on arranging flowers from the garden and making pot-pourri. Some of the chapters included are: How the House was Built, Trees and Lanes, Large Rock Gardens, and Plants for Poor Soils. Jekyll draws the reader in immediately with her simple, direct style, which gardening sound both delightful and effortless.
