Oxford: Printed at the Clarendon Press By Samuel Collingwood & Co, 1827. Full-Leather. Good. Absolutely exquisite books.The Holy Bible containing the Old and New Testaments translated out of the Original Tongue and with the former translations diligently compared and revised (1827). The Book of Common Prayer and administration of the Sacraments and other rites and ceremonies of the church according to the use of the United Church of England and Ireland: together with the Psalter or Psalms of David pointed as they are to be sung or said in churches (1828). Full crimson leather with gilt lettering pattern to front and back covers and spines. Both books in good condition. Gift inscription in both books is dated 1829 and written by the Lady Mary Fludyer [nee Lady Mary Fane, daughter of the 9th Earl of Westmorland] to her god-daughter Emma Lucy Birch Reynardson [9th child of Etheldred Anne Reynardson and Lieut. Gen Thomas Birch]. Rubbing to edges and corners slightly bumped. Gilt block edges. Small section in Prayer Book where pages protrude, partly loose. Binding exposed at rear endpapers of the Bible but otherwise binding tight/pages intact. Decorative beading to tops/bottoms of spines, some pieces are loose. Small piece of this missing from bottom of prayer book. Each book is 150mm tall. Please email for photos.
