Iii + 332pp. Original blue paper covered boards with cloth spine and printed paper label. Printed on hand made paper with the Golden Type designed by Morris for the Kelmscott Press. Printed in red and black and with an extra title ticket inserted at front. This contains both prose and verse, which first appeared in the magazine in 1856, when the author was 22 years old. Prose: The story of the unknown church; A Dream ; Gertha's Lovers ; Svend and his Brethren; Lindenborg pool; The Hollow Land; Golden Wings; Frank's Sealed Letter ; 'Men and Women.' By Robert Browning; The Churches of North France. Shadows of Amiens; 'Death the Avenger' and 'Death the Friend' ; Verse: Winter Weather ; Riding Together ; Hands; The chapel in Lyoness ; Pray but one Prayer for us. Some edge wear and rubbing to corners and spine. Slightly cocked. Very good + and clean inside, some minor age toning to endpapers/ front. Generally good/very good. Scarce.
