Navy blue cloth-bound hardcover has intricately detailed gilt border of tulips and leaves on front cover. Center of cover has dotted grid pattern. Spine has gilt lettering and repeats details of cover design. Light corner rubbing; spine ends lightly bumped and rubbed. Top edges gilt. Hinges and binding tight, except for a few minor cracks near center of book. A few pages have a few pencil marks or word underlined in pencil. Includes 24 pages of photogravures by A.W. Elson, & Co., from "Photographs taken expressly for this edition of 'Holland' by Dr. Charles L. Mitchell.' Each illustration has a labeled tissue guard. Very good fold-out color map of the Netherlands on last page. Translated from the thirteenth edition of the Italian by Helen Zimmern. Ribbon bookmark missing. 275 pages. Paper-lined navy blue cloth dust jacket has gilt titles on spine. Jacket has some edge wear; surface clean.
