This is a family history of the descendants of John Holden (b. 1800 Yorkshire, England, d. 1854 Osprey Twp., Grey Co., Ont.). The book provides some background to the Holden surname and family origins, but concentrates on John Holden's history coming to Canada in 1832 and the biographies of his fourteen children by two wives - Jane Hutty and Martha Boggie. Within the book details are provided of his many descendants, their life stories, and the contributions that the family made to the building of Canada. Filled with genealogical information on the Holden Family, the book provides biographical information on several of the Holden family as well as fictional stories of family members based on true historical events. If you are a descendant of John Holden, this is a book you will most likely enjoy.
