Many illustration in black and white and colour, by Samuel Lucas and others. A very entertaining view of 400 years of prominent men and women of Hitchin, closing with a long chapter on 'A Group of Eccentrics. A small errata slip is fixed to the front inside cover. A handsome book in green cloth and gilt lettering and decorations. T.E.G. Foxed on prelims but the text is unaffected. Rather dusty but complete dust wrapper.
