About This Item

Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. There is a crease running vertically down the length of the back cover, but else only gentle shelf-wear. Cover design by Edgar Blakeney. 'It is the undesirable activities of some secret societies,' writes Shah, 'and their very air of mystery which has given them the reputation of being strange, abnormal associations. When, however, their beliefs become those of the majority, they cease to be considered anti-social.' Shah counted among his fans Doris Lessing, J. D. Salinger, and Robert Graves, and he was key in fostering the burgeoning Wicca movement by writing (pseudonymously, taking the name of UFO Club light show maestro Jack L. Bracelin) and publishing Gerald Gardner's biography. 256 pp. Parapolitics.
