About This Item

Rochester, NY: Rochester Club of Printing House Craftsmen, 1986 Rochester Club of Printing House Craftsmen, Rochester, NY. 1986. Hardcover. First Edition. Dedicated to Our Noble Craft during Printing Week, January 1986, in Rochester, NY. Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a small bookplate on the front pastedown. Book Condition: Fine. No DJ as issued. Brown cloth boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on the front board with a printer's guild emblem on the front board. 52 pp 8vo. This book not only covers the life and careers of Augustine Dauby, but it also covers the history of printing in the Rochester area in the 1800s. The book tells of the major printers (like Mr Dauby) who printed their own papers and the minor printers, those of the lesser established printing presses. The book has a foldout copy of the Rochester Gazette for 1819 and a presentation slip that was folded over the first page as a presentation announcement of this book. A clean very presentable copy.
