Bound in publisher's burgundy cloth, gilt lettering to spine and front board; top edge stained gilt. Plain white endpapers. Xviii pp prelim material, 477 numbered pp, plus one blank; in addition: one foldout diagram, four unpaginated pp maps, 10 unpaginated pp plates. Lists of illus/maps; 12 chaps (from "Admission to the Union" [1857] to "Gleanings" [through 1865]; appendix (with 17 entries), index. Notes and maps passim. Condition notes: A fine, unmarked copy of the 1924 edition (dated to both title page and copyright page) with the following flaws: lacks dj, likely issued without; moderate wear to boards, spine ends rolled, corners bumped, sunning to spine, a small but noticeable gash to front board (see photo); interior tanned but clean/unmarked. Binding solid. Also included as a bonus are two small ephemeral items that accompanied the original distribution: A "Notice" from Solon J. Buck instructing "if your friend or neighbor would like a copy of this book..." to fill out the "accompanying application blank", and (a slightly tattered copy of) the blank itself, dated 1925. Quite a nice addition to a Minnesota collection. We personally inspect every book we offer.
