Title continues (all caps): ""The Argus-eyed, Briarean-Armed," Senator of Sweden, Count of Ortala, Chief of the Swedish Artillery Under, and Generalissimo of the Swedish Armies subsequent to the Death of, Gustavus Adolphus." Prefaced by "Description of Medals Presented by H.R.M. Oscar, King of Sweden and Norway, The Goths and the Vandals, to Gen. J. Watts de Peyster. Together with the Letter, by Order of H.R.M., from Colonel, Count Eric de Lewenhaupt, Privy Secretaty to H.R.M. the King of Sweden, In Relation Thereto. &c. &c. &c. Stockholm, December 22d, 1856."; l, xv (2) 284pp, with pages A through W inserted following p. 268. Facing the Description of Medals is a signed photograph of Gen. Peyster. Facing the title page is a signed photograph of Leonard Torstenson. Neither signature has been authenticated, but they appear to be period. Rebound in blue cloth/boards, with gilt title to the spine and newer endpapers. Small library stamp to the top of the title page, otherwise in vgc. An interesting and scarce work..
