Large octavo, six volumes, xxiv, 284; xxii, 285-539; xiv, 256; xiv, 257-555; xiv, 272; and xiv, 273-580 pages, plus numerous maps (some in colour, some folding) and over 50 plates (some in colour). Green buckram stamped in gilt and black; top edges gilt; covers a little bumped, marked and rubbed, with some trifling wear at the corner tips; front joint of fourth volume slightly split; spines a little darkened; some scattered foxing (generally light); some leaves dog-eared, with a few other minor signs of age and use; a very good set. A history of Ireland to 1908. The final volume includes sections on Irish emigration to Australia and America, as well as on the cultural and literary movements of the early 20th century. [6 items].
