About This Item

Waco, TX: Texian Press, 1965. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Inscription on front free end paper to "Mrs. Edna Perry Deckles and the Texas State Genealogical Society", which Mrs. Deckles founded. The inscription seems obviously from the author but is without signature. Also, laid in is a postcard with photo of first settlement of Hopkins Co. and handwritten notation, presumably by author. Reverse has information about the book and ordering it from author, Gladys St. Clair. 99 pp. Tan cloth boards with bright gilt print on spine. Bottom edge has some staining, perhaps foxing, since page edges have foxing, and there is light foxing on end papers. A little foxing on occasional pages, too. Front end papers have ghosting where news clippings must have lain. Very light edge wear. Dust jacket has a little spotting with slight rubbing, especially on flap folds and rear panel near rear hinge. Front panel has very faint scuff. Rear flap fold has creasing. Now in protective cover.
