A first edition of this 1900 work on the Gothic architecture of England, with a major focus on the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.This scholarly work from architect Edward Schroeder Prior is recognised as a standard text on the subject, achieving international acclaim, and contributing to his appointment as Slade Professor of Fine Art and Cambridge University. With 442 illustrations, plans and diagrams by British architect and draughtsman Gerald Callcott Horsley.This is an ex-library copy, and while in excellent condition, bears marking as such. There is a bookplate for the Weston-Super-Mare Reference Library to the front pastedown, and the front free endpaper bears an Avon County Library stamp.A publisher's advertisement appears at the rear. In a quarter calf library binding, with cloth covered boards. Externally, bright. Fading to calf portion and spine. Library plate to front pastedown, and stamp to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the occasional finger mark. Very Good Indeed
