Quarto (11" x 8 1/2" x 1 1/2"), green cloth with gilt lettering on title lable, Foreword by Sir George Cunningham; illustrated with many photos of early British men & women golfers (mainly B&W though frontispiece and a few in colour) , equipment, technique & swings, and a few early course layouts (including a folding map of the Old Course of St. Andrews), lengthy Appendices summarize early tournaments, Index, xv, [xvi] + 312 pages. Weight: 3 lbs. 10 1/2 oz. UNCOMMON: SUPERIOR CONTENT! Cloth has reasonably firm text block though hinges show webbing and the hefty volume is well used and shaken; considerable wear (scuffing, moderate soil, corners showing cardboard); plates are clean and unfoxed (very few with clean edge-nicks), well illustrated with many B&W photos of notable early golfers, informative text, folding map of Old St. Andrews. Ex Library with spine lettering, plate of Public Library on front pastedown.
