Octavo, four volumes, original publisher's full pebbled morocco decorated in gilt, marbled endpapers, all edges marbled, illustrated with steel engraved plates, additional vignette title pages. frontispieces, and maps. In good condition. A rare complete set, we have never seen another one. One of the earliest works published on the American Civil War, Orville James Victor's The History, Civil, Political & Military of the Southern Rebellion provides an analysis of the political, social, and military conditions of the Confederate states throughout the course of the war, from the spread of early secessionist sentiments in the 1790s to the issuance of Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.
