All edges red. Vol. I viii + 472pp, slight crack to binding and some shelf wear, vol. II iv + 474pp, vol. III iv + 518pp, including index. Contents include chapters on State and Forms of Pagan Religion and of Philosophy, the Life of Jesus Christ, Christianity and Judaism, Christianity and Paganism, Christianity to the close of the first century, constitution of churches, Christianity and Orientalism, during the Roman Empire, Marcus Aurelius, the Persecution under Diocletian, Foundation of Constantinople, Abolition of Paganism, the Monastic System, Christian Literature, Christianity and the Fine Arts etc.. These volumes were followed by Milman’s History of Latin Christianity, a further 6 volumes, which we also have in almost matching bindings.
