Price of $6.00 on the front flap of the dust jacket of volume one, price of $7.00 on the front flap of the dust jacket of volume two. Volume one illustrated with a folding map. Translated into English by Derek Bodde. With introduction, notes, bibliography and index. Volume one is the second edition in English, volume two is the first edition in English. Volume one was first published by itself in 1937, this reissue was done to help promote the first publication of volume two in English. Written by a respected Chinese historian and philosopher, these volumes contain analysis of Confucius, Lao-Tzu, the Mohist school, philosophy before Confucius, Neo-Confucianism, Buddhism, philosophy during the Han dynasty, and more. Light foxing to volume two's textblock; jackets each with edge wear and sunning to the spine panels, volume two's jacket with especially noticeable edge wear.
