Quartos, 648, 780, 875 pages, fresh leaves in 21st C. rebinding into half dark, half maroon cloth. Note: vol. 2 lacks a small woodcut of the first locomotive at Chicago (laid in is a photocopy from another copy). Note: in vol. 2, the long, folding, panoramic photograph by Joshua Smith of Chicago's Ruins after The Great Conflagration has the far right panel detached and with loss of the left side. Note: this is not as "collectable" as a copy in leather, but this cloth binding avoids the leather rot often found in the original bindings. Note: very heavy: may require extra cost for shipping. Scarce.

The Standard History of Chicago through the 19thC - and not since superseded in its usefulness. [Jewell A18]. Andreas' work is fundamental to the study of Chicago [ Howes A243].
