About This Item

Scranton, PA International Textbook Company, 1899. Hardcover First Edition (1900), unstated. This appears to be a gathering into one volume of four separate books published by the Colliery Engineer Company between 1896 and 1900. Very Good+: Shows mild wear to the extremities; some superficial scuffing to the panels; rubbing to the leather backstrip, but the gilt titles thereon remains mostly unaffected: bold and clearly legible; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean; the pages have tanned ever so slightly in its more-than-a-century of existence. Rubber-stamped "10387" at the bottom of the title page. This may be an Engineering License number, as we have several other books from this series with the same rubber-stamped number. Free of any other ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome, nearly-new copy, showing a little light wear. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (9 x 6.1 x 1.9 inches). xxi, 187 + 122 + 153 + 58 + 143 + 82 pages + a substantial section of sample contracts, forms, and such, and a 29-page section of Questions on the various sections. Profusely illustrated with drawings, diagrams, tables, schematic drawings and fold-out sections in black & white. Decorated Endpapers. Outside Edges Sprayed. Language: English. Weight: 3 pounds, 9.2 ounces. First Edition (1900), unstated. This appears to be a gathering into one volume of four separate books published by the Colliery Engineer Company between 1896 and 1900. Hardback: Quarter Leather and Cloth over Boards, with Leater corner tips. International Correspondence Schools Ltd, also known as ICS and ICS Learn, has been a provider of distance learning courses since the company was first established in 1890 in the United States of America. The US branch of ICS has since been renamed to Penn Foster Career School. The British branch of the company operates under its original name in the UK and has their headquarters in Glasgow. The I.C.S. Handbooks remain useful tools for the student or practicing technician.
