Edinburgh: Thomas Clark, Law Bookseller, 1832. xiv, 192 pp. Octavo (8-1/4" x 5-1/4"). Contemporary three-quarter sheep over marbled boards, small gilt library name to center of front boards, gilt fillets and title to spine. Light rubbing to boards, moderate rubbing to extremities with wear to spine ends and corners, joints and front hinge starting at ends. Moderate toning to interior, light foxing to a few leaves, small library stamp to title page and a few other leaves, early hand-lettered shelf mark (?) to front pastedown, author presentation inscription to front endleaf. $450. * Only edition. Repp was a Danish philologist, linguist and journalist. His most important scholarly work was a Latin translation of the Laxdaela Saga. His study of the origins of jury trials, wager of law and related practices in Scandinavia was a notable contribution to comparitive legal history. A German translation was published in 1835, then reissued in 1836. British Museum Catalogue (Compact Edition) 21:430.
