Bound in publisher's blue cloth, gilt lettering to spine. Matte color pictorial dj, featuring portion of Ptolemy's map of Ancient Rome. Plain white endpapers. [i-iv], v-xxvii, [xxviii-xxix], [1-2], 3-599, [600] blank; one fold-out map and one fold-out table, both bound-in, present. List of contributors, biographical notes, editor's preface, contents (including list of illus and tables); 15 chaps (from Carter's "Introduction to the Balkan Scene" through John Nandris' "The Perspective of Long-term change in South-east Europe" and G. Skrivanic's "Roman Roads and Settlements in the Balkans" to Cengiz Orhonlu's "Geographical Knowledge Amongst the Ottomans and the Balkans in the Eighteenth Century According to Bartinli Ibrahim Hamdi's Atlas", and beyond; further reading; subject index. Replete with b&w maps and tables and an occasional photo. Notes passim. Condition notes: This is an ex-library copy with the typical array of stamps and stickers indicating such. Dust jacket is sheathed in mylar and affixed with tape to the binding. Spine ends rolled, corners bumped, edges moderately soiled; hinges discreetly reinforced with library tape at endpaper hinges; binding appears and feels quite sound. Prominent grease (?) spotting to ffep which does not bleed through; pages generally tanned but unmarked (but for previously mentioned library mgt notes); fold-out map shows five inch closed tear. A perfectly good reading copy of a hard-to-find volume. We personally inspect every book we offer.

Furrowed Brow Books was established in 2020. The bookstore's owner, Paul Purman, grew up in an old farmhouse full of books. Paul had been providing online booksales since 2008 through several popular online sales venues. In 2021 Paul was accepted as a member of the Independent Online Booksellers' Association (IOBA), and graduated from the annual Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS-Minnesota).
