Sterling, Midway, Sumerford and South Solon, are recalled through a mixture of colorful tales and factual data in this NEW 17 Page Booklet reprinted from the 1892 Centennial edition of Henry Howe's Historical Collections of Ohio and other hard-to-find sources. The spiral-bound booklet is printed single-sided on 60# paper with the fine print enlarged for easier reading. A sheet of clear vinyl has been added to protect the front cover. Among the many and diverse items in the booklet are: the weekly London Live Stock Sales of cows, horses, and mules; the captivity and life of Jonathan Alder among the Indians; and early setters: Benjamin Springer, William Lapin, and Joshua and James Ewing. GENEALOGY BUFFS will find a list of 1888 Madison County officers and businesses. A brief 1933 history of newspapers in the county, an short item on Jonathan Adler from a 1941 Ohio history, a map showing the 88 counties of Ohio, a map showing 1805 Ohio, and an excerpt from The Ohio Guide (a 1940 WPA project combining historical insights with travel information) are also included. .
